Help Removing Pinwid Hijacker.
6 Answers
Crikey! I thought I'd been lucky so far this year. It seems I've been struck by a shifty little devil called 'Pinwid.'
I'm trying to uninstall it. However, I'm just concerned that in the process, Windows 8 'appears' to ask me: ' do you want the following program to make changes to this computer?' And it identifies the programme as being Pinwid.
I'm just a bit concerned by clicking on 'yes,' as I'm not sure what the consequences will be. However, if I click no...it's a non-starter.
Has anyone had this experience recently? I find this little mess of a hijacker to be particularly pernicious. I'm looking forward to sticking where it belongs!
Thanks
Ollie

I noticed that I was asked to choose which browser I'd like it to be removed from when I clicked on 'yes.' However, the page was greyed out a bit and I had no option to tick. However, when just pressing enter it continued. But then I received a notice that stated: "Pinwid has been successfully hidden from your browser."
I gather that it still remains and may surface at some later time? I tried reading about the hijacker and one comment stated that pinwid is particularly pernicious and difficult to remove. Should I purchase some type of register cleaner as well? Haven't had this lappy too long and have been admittedly lazy in adding all the bits and bobs I have on the older one.
Many thanks again!

Hey methyl!
Funny you should ask...I've only just discovered that I do have that as well! I've 'removed' it about four times now, but the nasty little *** keeps returning.
I'm wondering whether I can use things such as 'Hijack This' like I used on older software or if I have to do something more aggressive.
No matter how I try to remove it, I see it attempt to resurface for a fleeting second before my browser starts back up....
Ohhh am I cranky this morning!
Hope no one else has been struck by this steaming pile of horse plops!
