My PC and monitor was working well until the other day.

When I try to read the information on a site the screen doesn't seem wide enough and I have to use my grey scroll bar to see everything.

It started when I was using Google Chrome and I moved back to Firefox hoping that it would be okay.

My resolution is currently 1280 x 1024 but I did reduce it to 120 x 960 but it didn't seem to do much.

Can anyone help me?

Windows 7
Firefox
Philips monitor

PS - my knowledge of computers is as good as my knowledge of history, politics, geography and other stuff. I know nothing

no - what was it supposed to do?

I am suspicious about this happening overnight - my girl cat likes sleeping on my desk.
it's supposed to make pages normal size; but sounds as if your whole screen's wonky?

Okay, maybe this video will help. If not it seems to be only 58 seconds of your life you'll have wasted.

jno - it seemed so simple, but it didn't work.

I have a flat screen TV upstairs that I may try in the morning. If it gets really annoying I will just have to use my MacBook.

Thanks ~ sleep well.
ah well, you probably just need someone who knows what they're talking about.

The resolution merely tells you how many dots of light you have, but they can be large or small, resulting in big or small windows on your screen.

It's possible it's a monitor issue. Does it have controls ? Have you tried a different monitor ?

It could be a driver issue I suppose. As a last resort only I might try to delete the monitor from the device manager and reboot hoping the PC would find it again and set itself up properly.

Thank you all for your help. I have no idea how it all went wonky but when I went onto the internet this morning all was well.

I have tinkered with so many settings since it went wonky that I have no idea as to shy it got better.

It is not until the computer goes wrong that I realise how little I actually know about it.

Thanks
