Some Weird Font Issues On Google Chrome
5 Answers
Anyone else noticing strange font choices on websites recently? One or two pages are suddenly displaying in fonts I've never seen the websites in before. Slightly confused... one page is suddenly in Gill Sans, which is up there for bizarre and frankly off-putting fonts. I can fix the issue temporarily by tweaking the source code but that doesn't last through a refresh of course.
Was there a recent update to Chrome/ something else? Anyone experiencing similar issues? Incidentally, the webpages display "correctly" in Firefox but seems like the source code is the same, which suggests a chrome issue of some sort.

Newest update has apparently included the experimental "DirectWrite". Which, it seems, works in some places but doesn't in others. Turning OFF Directwrite leads to some bizarre font choices, but at least the text is legible (although Gill Sans is a seriously weird font). Turning ON Directwrite restores the fonts to what they "should be", but seemed to have trouble with special characters e.g. italics. Until an update is released it seems like I'm stuck with one of these problems.
