a web accelerator

is there a program that using the internet cache or better creates one of it's own will speed up pages like for example on this page if the borders (that r infact heavy images) were saved in a cache then it would greatly increase performance. i ask this because i have just uninstalled a web accelerator provided by my isp but it worked in cooperation with their server to actually compress info but as the service is very poor it is actually bloking the conection so i have uninstalled it. the next best to that is a program that will use cache.

It may be that you have this turned off by default or its cleaning itself to often for you to notice a difference. Have a look under the options menu for your browser and check.
There are some programs that will try and help your browser by looking forward and downloading all the information that are linked off a website while you are reading it. I've never used them myself, but they work on the basis that you may click on a link on a website at some point while browsing. Of course they do not speed up your connection or anything like that, just use your computer while it is not downloading anything to browse ahead for you. Probably not to good an idea if your ISP sets you download limits.

You're with crappy tiscali? I had their dial up for a while with web accelerator while i was waiting for them to remove THEIR marker off my adsl line.. lies after lies and OFCOM being involved.. after 2 months I was back on broadband (ADSL) with another isp. Fot the extra few quid get yourself adsl.
I'm on 1mb now, had 576kb adsl for 5 yrs.. to be honest, unless you're downloading a lot, 576kb is fast enough, and cheaper. I'm with naims now.. check their broadband prices at http://www.naims.co.uk
