is winmx safe to use on my computer? its a brand new flat screen super duper machine and im terrified of viruses...have norton antivirus but still worried, can anyone suggest anything else that means free music downloads?

Hi sc, Forget Winmx, all the clever folks sre over at Limewire. It's a lot faster and safer than anything i've tried. p.s. Is that the name the salesman gave your pc?

winmx ,in my experience, was crap.it contained infected files and long queues for popular files.

i use bit torrent.have never downloaded 1 infected file or a wrongly posted file that tends to ruin othe p2p sites ie you spend ages downloading a file to find it isnt what it said it was.

As someone with many years experience of downloading files.. I bet some on here cannot even remember when Napster was illegal.. I've tried loads of them. Limewire I have but it is full of spyware, it's slow and a lot of files are corrupted.
Kazaa I wouldn't touch with a bargepole.. full of viruses.
I use winmx, no spyware.. yes, long queues for some files but most files are genuine and good quality. With ANY peer 2 peer programs you should scan them for viruses before opening them.

with bit torrent there are no queues whatsoever for any file - beats winmx hands down in my opinion

look everyone - all p2p methods have spyware, virii, trojans, everything. none of them are safe. but to get stuff free, you take a risk and use it.

BitTorrent, the best method for downloading large files (such as linux distros), is great. but theres still plenty of viruses etc. on it. its just a network. EVERY large-scale network has viruses etc. on it.

ok ok, i know theres always a risk, i was just checking whether i was missing out on anything. I might leave it till my computer is a bit older lol, i'll have to stick to doing it the legal way from itunes, but thankyou for all your answers people!! (and no, sleepincuties my username for everything like msn etc lol)
