I think that my sky box is on its way out. Instead of just taping a particular programme of say 30 mins it just keeps taping. When I try to get the synopsis of a programme by pressing i the box is blank. When using the gizmo after pausing a programme it sometimes jumps back to the beginning of the programme.
Can I just buy a new box or do I have to go back to Sky

Unlike virgin where they own the box with sky the box belongs to the customer. Unless you take out their insurance they expect you to pay them for doing it. If you are still a customer I would try what others have said and reboot making sure that first you disconnect all cables except power one. Failing that give them a call and if they won't do it free say that you want to cancel your contract as this can often persuade them to either do it free or at a cheaper rate if they think you will go elsewhere. Always worth a try.
