Streaming Pc Screen To Sony Tv
4 Answers
I have just set up my mother's Sony Bravia TV to her Plusnet wireless router via a lan antenna hooked up to the TV. The TV internet service now works using the TV remote, and I can send anything on Windows Media Player with the little green button, but how can I use the TV as a second monitor as you can with a cabled setup, so what's on the computer screen is shown on the TV, assuming this is even possible as nothing online shows it can be done. Windows 7 using an HP laptop.

I wasn't picturing any trailing cables, rather a case of positioning the laptop near enough to the telly for a 1.5m cable to reach the set and not risk being tripped over by persons or pets etc.
With Win7, I find the act of plugging in the HDMI causes a brief black screen on the laptop before the screen options menu appears.
The one potential hiccup of the whole setup is that the master remote control handset needs to have a button to control input source switching (TV, AV1, AV2, HDMI1-4. An old-style Sky controller, for example, doesn't have one. The original Bravia remote needs to be kept to hand.
