To aid this answer I think back to when I got my first job. Mrs. Thatcher was at number 10 and there was no such thing as email or the internet. EDI was on the cards but a long way off. Doing business today without the internet is virtually unthinkable. Everyone has become used to real time updates 24/7 and this is now demanded as a minimum requirement. Pity the poor sod doing the updates on xmas day
