I am a 'silver surfer' and don't know much about Facebook, but my son put me onto it. How do I delete someone, and I believe the term is 'unfriend' them. Also, will they know I have deleted them.

Further to Buenchico's answer, they won't get a notification that you've unfriended them, but they might notice that you're missing from their friends list.
