I have a corded telephone with speakerphone and answerphone, which when someone rings the answerphone message cuts in but then it lets out a high pitched sound, so the person calling cant leave their message, any ideas what the fault could be? tia

Only one saved message in there, speakphone is off
Are you sure the high pitched tone isn't after the caller has hung up? If someone rings my phone and hangs up once my 'you've reached the answerphone of...' Message starts, and they don't leave their own message, I hear a loud noise like a beep beep which goes on for a minute or two.
SOAPNUMPTY THAT'S WHAT HAPPENS TO MY ANSWERPHONE IF THE CALLER PUTS THE PHONE DOWN WHEN IT'S ABOUT TO RECORD A MESSAGE. fRUITSALAD HAVE YOU TRIED RINGING IT WITH A MOBILE AND ACTUALLY LEAVING A MESSAGE YOURSELF?

Sorry, not re-typing that ;-)
Make and model so we can find an online manual
Corded telephone?

It must be pretty old so perhaps it's time to upgrade.

Yes I have tried ringing the landline phone from my mobile and after the recorded message finishes there is just a screeching sound, I have a manual for it but no troubleshooting part in there, the phone itself is a Logik L04CTAM10
Have you tried re-recording your message (the one people hear when they ring you)? Or could it be interference if you are ringing from your mobile and standing close to your home phone?
