Hi, I'm trying to contact PayPal.com.uk in oder to update my account details (as requested by them) but keep getting a reply from PayPal Inc. [US] stating, "Access denied on this server". Cannot seem to be able to contact PayPal.com.uk by any means.
Anyone else having trouble? Am using Windows XP, Internet Explorer 8.0 via Plusnet. Many thanks for any suggestions.

It's the wrong address, I think.
Try paypal.co.uk
i doubt if it's paypal that have asked you to update your account :-(
To update your details you just log into your account. If they are asking you to contact them it could be dodgy especially if they have given you that email address.
It does look like phishing.
Have they emailed you about this? Did they know your name? No- it's phishing.
Just log on to your account in the normal way and see if there is a message for you.
The address you used paypal.com.uk is not right I'm sure

Hi, Factor. Thanks for the quick response. I've tried the UK address via the original icon on my desk top, etc., and even gone through Google for addresses but always get the "Denied Access" reply from PayPal [US]. Could this be a scam??
Why would you need to email paypal anyway? Just log on to your account and use the messaging service
Or you typed it wrong into your browser address bar: www.paypal.com/uk is also legit.

Never click on links from emails. I don't even use tabs for internet banking anymore because it is possible to change them from a remote location if the right virus is running on your system. If I think something is wrong I generally use a different computer - I know this isn't always an option for most.
Wak, you havent told us why you are trying to "update account details as requested by them". Invariably emails enticing you to update account details are bogus. Companies do not operate in this way.
As far as I recall you can't even register a com.uk address and I've tried doing a reverse lookup and tracert, it doesn't even exists. You've even made a mistake or someone isn't a very good scammer!

Have just read the other replies and was asked by Paypal as my credit card date ran out end of December. I can't contact the UK site by any means at all so will now check my comp for any nasties.
Thanks for all replies and I wish you all a Very Happy New Year.

Wak:

Delete your 'viewed internet files' (clear the cache) and reboot. Let me know how you get on.
You can only update your credit card details by logging on to your account.
If you have an account log on to it and check/update your card details.
If you don't have an account then ignore the email completely
I am in UK and I use address www.paypal.com - no UK on the end
Also it might be worth mentioning this in case your browser isn't up to date:

General Announcements

To make shopping even safer for you, eBay is restricting site access through older versions of web b...

We have decided to restrict the use of an outdated Internet security protocol, SSL 3.0, because we have determined it does not meet our standards. This industry-wide protocol, which is more than 18 years old, has been recently restricted by many Internet companies because it has a vulnerability.

Fortunately, the newest versions of browsers available provide higher levels of protection. The newest versions of Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Firefox and Safari will continue to work without SSL 3.0. However, customers using older browsers (see below) without support for the newer, more secure protocol, will experience issues using eBay and need to update their browser.

Implementing this change is necessary to provide a safe, secure online shopping experience to our millions of customers, which is our top priority.

Although that announcement was issued in October 2014 I don't think it was implemented till just recently - however I could be wrong.
It's almost certain to be a scam (we get them every week) but remember...........PayPal will always contact you by your name, not as "Dear Paypal member" or some other such address.
grasscarp: I always type www.paypal.co.uk but each to ones own. I was merely pointing out that www.paypal.com/uk belongs to PayPal and it's easy to put a '.' in stead of a '/' whilst manually typing the link. As it happens Wak is using a shortcut apparently so it's irrelevant now.

Hi Dizmo, I deleted all e-mails, etc, rebooted as you suggested and still couldn't get through to the paypal.co.uk. I gave them my mobile number some time ago (which isn't a smart phone) and I think it got tied up with the e-payment site which has cocked things up a lot.
I tried using Google addresses and they are now mostly paypal.COM,uk.
I then tried using Firefox (which I don't particularly like) and did manage to get through to Paypal.com.uk where they recognised my e-mail address but wanted my account details again so I've decided not to bother with them at the moment as I've only ever bought one item with Paypal.
My thanks to you and everyone else who replied but I'll wait and see how I feel about it in 2015.
A Happy New Year to you all, and thanks again.
Wak.
I am just curious Wak as to what you get if you type www.paypal.com
If you dont want to bother ok.
Wak: This has been reported as something untoward. There is software such as CC cleaner but as I have never used it I can't say how good it is and whether or not it also contains adware or not. Someone with more knowledge of such software might be able to suggest one more appropriate.
PS you always have to sign in with email address and password
