Stop Facebook Messages Coming In.

Can anyone tell me how I can stop people sending me private messages to my Facebook page? I know how to block an individual from interacting with me on Facebook, but I want to remove the message button altogether so that no-one can send me a private message. There is an instruction on Facebook saying how to do it, but I think it must refer to the old layout before the system was changed because I can't find the buttons and lists they are talking about. Can anyone help? Thank you.

If I am reading this page correctly the option to turn off PM has gone.

Thanks for this, Mamyalynne. That is an interesting page, and confirms what I had already thought. We used to be able to turn off incoming messages but Facebook have changed that. Looks like I will just have to deactivate again.

you know, you don't have to open the messages, just because they show on your notifications

That's a shame but if its making it uncomfortable for you, then maybe best.

If I get a message I don't want to reply to I ignore it, but it rarely happens.

Are you on a PC or a phone, chanel? If you are on the phone and have installed Messenger, get rid of it. That means you can't get PMs on your phone any more.

(Messenger's evil anyway, it has far too many permissions attached to it).

Is Messenger a part of Facebook? I thought was separate.
