Is It Possible To Change The Subtitle Graphics On My Samsung Le26R41Ba?

Watching 'Spiral' on BBC4 it is almost impossible to read the subtitles (in white) when they are on a lighter background,especially as their duration is so short.This programme is a French production and the English sutitles are an integral part of the British edition - as opposed to subtitles which I can choose to use,or not, on regular English language programmes.
Is it possible to change the graphics of these 'fixed' subtitles to make them more readable?
I've read the owner's manual but,if the solution's there,I didn't understand it.
It is a great programme and a shame to miss out on a good deal of the storyline.

I'm a bit ancient to understand the term 'hard coded', but it sounds like it means that the format cannot be changed by me.
