What Is Task Host Please

I am having problems signing in and out. I recently installed messenger then uninstalled it as I was having the same problems but they are still there. When I close I always get a message saying 'waiting for program to close' sometimes it tells me the name of the program but usually too quick for me to read. Yesterday I caught 'Task host is preventing shut down' I have windows 7, mozilla firefox which is ALWAYS stopping responding, malwarebytes and mse. Any ideas please?

Thank you for replying fender, I might wait for the software update as your link suggests as I have the other problems too, especially firefox. grrrrr
