service pack 2

i am trying to install the software for my phillips jukebox mp3.  the software will not load as it states i need service pack 1 or above.  i have to use this software as its not compatible with windows media player 10. 

i tried downloading sp2 but it didnt make any difference and when i check it still says no sp installed.  so i have now brought a cd of sp2 and tried that.  it extracts the files and installs the files according to the update box but nothing else happens.  still, even after rebooting, it says no SP.

any ideas?

sounds like update did not work, try downloading the sp2 file from the microsoft site, once you reboot click start > run type in "winver" (no quote marks) and you should see what version of windows it is, it should say SP2 or Service Pack 2.
