Gemini Gemq1002 Tablet Sd Card Problems

Hi, any techies out there able to help with my problem? I have a Gemini GEMQ1002 tablet (I know, buy rubbish & expect problems!) and had to restore factory settings last week. When I tried to reload an app I had bought from Amzon AppStore I got an error message "No external storage available". So, I got in touch with Gemini support (not much help at all) and they recommended trying a different SD card. Well, I had already tried that but although the SD card shows in Settings - Storage and shows as mounted I get the error message "An SD card is required to download Amazon etc" when I try to re install the AppStore and still get "No external storage available" when I try to open the camera or bluetooth photos to the tablet. I had intended to take the tablet to my local repair shop but it's shutters are up. Anyone got any advice please... throwing it in the bin & buying a decent tablet is not an option at the moment!!
