It means that you have nearly used up your computer's physical memory (RAM) and will have to close some programs before you can run more. Or if this is a regular occurrence, buy more memory.
It can also mean that your drive is badly fragmented and that Windows has no space to create it's Workspace (commonly known as a SPLAT file). Try defragging the drive and see if that improves performance.
