Prescription Single Lens
13 Answers
I haven't got a clue where to search for this, maybe someone knows...
I have astigmatism and would like to have a prescription lens made up for my right eye, unmounted and un-ground for any spectacle frame.
It's so I can make up a prescription eyepiece for my SLR camera. I have made one up before with the lens from the R/H side of an older pair of specs I had and it worked really well, sadly it worked loose and got lost.
I had my usual eye test at Specsavers today and enquired there but they refuse to do it for one reason or another - the optician there was mystified as to why not and advised me to look elsewhere, she seemed to find my idea rather innovative (well it is!)
TIA for any advice.

That is firms which are legally authorised to make-up prescriptions which have been issued by Opticians who are qualified to examine eyes. Consequently one could go to say 'Boots the Chemist' and, having had one's eyes tested, just ask for a prescription which could be dispensed a lot cheaper elsewhere. A bit like going to a Doctor who will examine you and then issue a prescription which is dispensed by a Pharmacist.
Pump into the internet for 'Dispensing Opticians in ( whatever is your nearest town )' and see what results you get, and take it from there.
