My tablet has stopped picking up WiFi. Have been through all the settings and all is correct. Tried it on other people's WiFi and no joy. Obviously something faulty with the Tab.

A new one will cost around £180.00
Anyone know if it is a easy (cost effective) fix, or... bin it and buy a new one?

Might I suggest a visit to the Samsung support site - there may be a repair or reload operating system function. In my experience there is more chance of damaging your tablet if you try and replace the wireless card - maybe a plug in dongle might be the answer if it has the right sockets or you can use an adaptior.

Tried everything, even 'reset to factory settings'.
Obvious but it must be asked.

Is Wi Fi turned on in the Android settings?

When you did the "return to factory settings" did the option to connect to wi fi get displayed during the set up?
Have you fed in WEP? Disable bluetooth & plane settings for less conflict

Yes to both VHG. Initially the problem was a week link speed. One minute it would be 72Mbps, next it would be 5Mbps. Now it just says 'out of range' and doesn't even display available networks. I'm in no doubt that the Tablet is faulty, just curious as to whether or not the cost of repair is worthwhile.

Reset your modem. Try to download google or an App - they can force a connexion.

Tamborine, did it all with Virgin. Definitely a fault on the Tablet.

Dont bin....theyre desirable for portability. If less than 3y old the retailer might change.

It's a 8" Samsung Galaxy Tab 3. Model SM-T310. Two and a half years old, running on Jelly Bean 4.4.2.
Two other devices (phones) in the household connect to internet via the Virgin
Superhub effortlessly.

I had a on-line chat with a technician at Samsung. After trying a couple of things and doing a complete/comprehensive re-boot without success, he asked for the serial number.... Well, it turns out that I haven't had this tablet for as long as I thought I have - two months left on the warranty!
Even though I don't have the receipt/proof of purchase - as I bought it off Ebay "brand new unwanted gift" - serial number confirms it's age and Samsung will repair or replace it and pay for all postage!
Total result!
