Using Your Regular Email To Sign Up To Sites

I am just wondering how many people use their regular email to sign up to sites. On line stores, forums news sites etc. Because you shouldn't. You should always make new emails and passwords for everything you do. But how many people actually do that?

Oh and how many people sign up for something and enter their email as a username for the new site and then enter the password for the new site as the same as your email? These should be like baby reaching now.... but is it strictly adhered to?

I've used several hundred email addresses over the years but I've currently got just a handful that I use for most things (although I'd sill create a new address for anything that I was a bit wary of).

I've also got an A4 pad with pages and pages of usernames and passwords for different sites ;)

Oh so you hand write them and not keep them in a notepad on your computer like most people? That's a good idea.

Like Chris, i have got just a few email addresses I use for everything. I can create throwaway addresses but rarely feel the need to, if it was an occasion when I felt I needed to use a throwaway, I would probably decide not to do whatever it was. I have a bunch of passwords I use for low risk activities but my high risk stuff is protected by strong passwords that I change often. I visit and use literally hundreds of websites and using a new email for each one would just not be feasible.

The other option to using masses of throwaway addys is to create one and use that for throwaway purposes till it gets hacked, if it does, then delete that one and create another one.
I would be more concerned about people having my real world details.

Why do we each need a stack of email addresses? Numerous passwords are hard enough to manage, (yes I do change them and use numbers and symbols) what's the consequence of using just one or two email addresses?

Thinking about it, other than this, I tend only to use websites that are household names, and I don't bank online.

Maydup, it can be a bit of a nuisance if you have got an email address that is precious to you (I have got one that is myname.com) and it gets hacked or sold and you get swamped with spam.
