A few months ago new security cameras were installed on the site where I live. [complex for over 55s]

The new ones are the type where they can be viewed by the police or our management..to do this they installed Broadband on site.

I am now wondering why can’t we all use it too…who live on site.

We each pay a portion of the cost via our service charge..surely we are entitled to access it too….

Anyone know if this is possible...I'm not to technicaly minded. Thank you

I mean access Broadband.

Pity there isnt an option to correct mistakes.
cupotee2, probably the easiest way to get access is to check your service charge contract (is it part of your rental lease?) and see if free broadband access is on it. If the CCTV is a new addition - has your service charge increased to cover the cost? If so, did you get a new version of your service charge contract? (check this and see what it says about the broadband portion of your fees)
Do you have a contact at the complex or neighbour who you could check with to see what the password is and how to set it up for your home?

It may be that the system they are using and the broadband are not compatible for private use (if the police can access it, it might not be secure and they would be able to tap into what you are browsing too) But definitely worth asking.

All the best

Thank you Peaspeculiars.

It is a whole new system, but yes we are all going to be billed for the service via our Service Charge on the next review in a few weeks time.

I hadn't thought about the security aspect, so thank you for that possibility.

Food for thought at our next AGM.

Ooh - an AGM to discuss it - Perfect! Hopefully you and all of your neighbours get the answers you need about it there - Good Luck!
