I have music downloaded from iTunes on my phone. Is there any way to use one of the songs as the ringtone for a specific contact? The only options I see are the default ringtones that Apple provide.

If I've read that correctly, you seem to be trying to do two steps in one. i.e. you're trying to directly assign a song to be associated with a specific caller, rather than making that song into a ringtone first and then assigning that particular ringtone to a caller.

If so, start by creating the ringtone:

Then, once your iPhone can see the song as a ringtone (rather than just as a music file in iTunes) it should be available for you to assign as you wish.

thanks for that - it doesn't work!!! I do not get the option for 'Create AAC version' and when I follow his workaround nothing changes...
