Ipad Mini - No Mail Connection??

My new iPad mini stopped connecting to my email about a week ago, although my laptop works fine.
Any thoughts?
Also where do I learn to use the IPad. Can't find any instructions.

when this has happened to me, I have deleted the account on the ipad and added it again which seems to sort it. Does it say it can't connect or does it just not download the emails? If you download them to your laptop first and delete them, they won't download to your ipad.
