Gps ,location Problem, Google Maps App. On Samsung S4

i was driving through central london picadilly , i really needed my google maps to work as it allways had done, sudeenly it lost gps signal, then again and again . this has never happened before and what a time for it to happen , it took me 2 hours to find my way outside london to the right destination.
anyway, what could be wrong ? how can i fix this problem, i do not want this happening again.
maybe download another sat nav app ? or fix this gps problem, how ?

Its more than likely down to the available signal - there are a lot of things in London to obscure you from satellites and a massive amount of electronic energy in the air. On the open road you get the odd blackspot that you normally drive out of. if anybody knows a network with better coverage let us know.
I sometimes hit problems with both my phones and my tablet when surrounded by tall buildings. One thing is to get the device as close to the front windscreen as possible to maximise the signal.
You might also like to look at the Nokia "Here" app as an alternative to Google Maps. It seems to be better at extrapolating your current position from other data when it loses the GPS signal.
