Have terrible problems with WiFi signal strength. Set up as follows - router is taken of a telephone extension no problem with fixed connection for computer in same room. WiFi signal is excellent in. Go into room across hall and WiFi signal was weak and keeps dropping out even though WiFi signal is OK at the same time in computer/router room. Got a devolo 500+ kit and plugged router into that and added other half with wifi booster? of it to room across the hall with tv and set top box now hardwired. WiFi still *** being the same strength as original WiFi unless happening to be sitting in top of sender. Is it possible to add another router on the phone line? And use just the WiFi signal on that?
Or someone has told me I need a WiFi access point added?
Can I just query it appears to say your router is on an extension it should be plugged in where your phone line enters the house or is that my possible.
What type of walls have you got - modern plasterboar or old thick stone walls?
As a test do you have line of sight between the rooms ie. from door to door?
If so, position router in doorway then try the wifi in the other room - first with line of sight to the router then moving out of sight. If your signal is better in line of sight then your walls may be blocking the signal.
The walls are single breeze block distance from router to living room is approx 4 metres. Router could be put into hall where main phone socket is and improve signal but it easier to have it where it is in the study as I run two desktops and a ps3 off the ports.
Would a super roter work?
Using another wireless device in the living room as well as the tablet currently used slows it down even more to point of useless.devices can see 6 other signals too weak to use and I have set the WiFi channel to one with least use/interference using inssider app.
Develo 500 + = repeats Ethernet through mains and has wifi transmitter on the second box. Complete rubbish signal from it too unless two foot away from it.
