This is a serious question, for some time now I've had trouble getting to grips with certain aspects of GIMP 2.8.So as usual I've turned to you ABer's for help. But for all the queries I've put in I've had so few replies,is it the way I put the question or is Gimp not very popular?

It is bound to have its own support forum which would be the logical place to start. If not, then google a longish phrase describing your problem and see what Q&A websites show up.

I use GIMP but I wouldn't claim to be an expert. (I've also got Photoshop 6.0, which is generally what I turn to for complex image manipulation) . Your queries seem to relate to a particular plug-in that most people probably wouldn't use (and I've certainly never used), so that might be why you're not getting replies.
Have you tried Paint.Net http:// www.get paint.n et/inde x.html ? It contains all the editing functions that most people need and I always find it to be more straightforward to use than Gimp.
Have you tried the Gimp forums for help?
