I have recently bought a Samsung smart TV but have noticed my 10GB broadband allowance is used up more quickly although I don`t download programmes and can`t use the I player etc. So basically am I using up my allowance just by switching the TV on. Advice would be appreciated.

programmes etc are resource heavy - but if, as you say, you arent doing those things is there something else switched on thats using up your allowance.

Hi UKbod when you say resource heavy I assume that means anything transmitted via broadband facebook, you tube weather etc that sort of thing so just turning on the Tv to view programmes wouldn't make this happen.
No just downloads - but if your weather stuff is being downloaded via cable rather than Sky or some such then thats where your allowances are going. have a look at your broadband supplier and see what the unlimited deal is - there are some good deals around at present.

Thanks UKbod Don`t have cable or Sky so will look into unlimited.
What do you use the "smart" bit of your TV for, if anything? If you don't use the "smart" bit, don't let it connect to your router.
