hello i have two computers at home and i want to buy my daughter  a laptop and have them all networked question is how much distance is allowed between original computer and laptop for internet access thank you x

In theory if you use a wireless connection they should work all over the house. I will defer to superior knowledge on this.. But I do know that my daughter has a PC in her upstairs PC room and both her and her husband have laptops in the living room downstairs using wireless connections.

The manual for my wireless router states that around 100 metres is achievable, but I have not tried this yet.I have tried it in my garden and get a connection (about 50M).I think the thikness of your walls can make a difference, but my house is very old and has very thick walls,and I have not had any problems so far.

If you are using network cable (Cat 5) then you can use cables upto a maximum length of 100m.
