Best Way To Get Powerpoint Download.
3 Answers
My son has started using PowerPoint in school and has the option to use it for his homework so I need to download it at home due to having a new laptop that didn't come with Microsoft office.
I've looked at Microsoft and it seems you have to take up a monthly subscription of £7.99 to get Office and powerpoint which is a bit much for something we will use occasionally. Is there another way of getting it which will be a one off payment?...

(Kingsoft Office Free is noted for being able to use Microsoft PowerPoint formats. OpenOffice and LibreOffice are both also good).
However, as your son will ideally need to see exactly the same screen layout at home as he does at school, I suppose that you're stuck with using PowerPoint.
Despite Microsoft heavily pushing their Office 365 subscription model, PowerPoint 2013 is still available for a one-off payment of £99.99:

(Even so, having taught teenagers who genuinely couldn't afford to but a cheap ball-point pen for school use, I'm worried that parents are expected to pay out that sort of money).

Some schools might provide school-based email addresses (ending .sch.uk) for their students. If your son's school does, then Microsoft's FREE 'Office in Education' option might be open to him:

(If they don't, it's something that's worth mentioning to a parent governor).
