No Internet Access Except Ab

Lost my internet connection this morning. ISP is Virgin Media.
Have been through usual unplug, reboot procedures. But now have the strange phenomenon that I can't access any site except AB, although the link to the avatar image site isn't working.
Stranger still, while this is true of the HP laptop, the Lenovo desktop (both Windows 10), the Hudl tablet (Android), my wife's Lenovo tablet (Android), but NOT the Samsung Galaxy 4 Android phone which has full internet access. The desktop I'm using now thinks that it's internet connection exists, but the browser doesn't. We use Chrome on all our devices.

Thanks very much for your reply, Bednobs. The problem with its bizarre symptoms appears to be connected with an issue in the local Virgin network.
Things working OK at the moment.
