Iphone Sliding Screen Not Working

Suddenly I can't get into my phone. The sliding screen won't slide and I can't turn the phone off either. Any ideas please?

Is your screen clean? If I get dognose on mine it stops the slider working and have to clean it with a damp cloth

Wolfgang my Samsung is not good so I lost lots of data but now do factory reset

Woofgang, just tried cleaning it with a damp cloth - nothing - so I took the screen cover off and tried it. Still nothing.

Tony, no I haven't. It's mostly phone numbers - I don't use my phone for much except texting and phone calls. I've only had this one a few months so it's pretty annoying.

Do you back it up to a computer? have you tried connecting it to itunes via a computer?

Woofgang, No, I don't - and no I haven't - but I will - well, at least my husband will. I'm rubbish at technology. Thank you.

Hold the on off button and home button until the apple logo appears then it'll reboot itself

Tried that, pankysmooch. All I get is a 'slide to power off' message - which it won't let me do - and a button to cancel. It won't switch off.

You did not hold the piwer and the home button long enough.

Keep holding when the piwer off slider shows. The phone will be forced to reboot.
