yes very helpful, thank you. What I really want to know is, do I need to buy extra memory, or is the 32mb that comes with it enough to keep a 9 year old going for a while. And are there any other accessories that are worth getting?

there are rubber or silicon protective cases so the kid doesn't damage it too much when he drops it.
Some things to protect the screen are available too.
I don't think extra memory is required unles he plugs it on his computer to load mp3s and stuff... ( in that case he will also need a USB cable.)

thank you Space, the memory sticks are very expensive and I didn't want to buy one unnecessarily. Screen protector sounds a good idea.

FIFA 2006 and Wipeout look like a good bet for games!
