There's a site which has .dat video files to download. The files are pretty big and I don't want to download them to find they don't workk, so does anyone know what player they're associated with, or whether I need any codecs or anything like that. Thanks

If these really are video files, I suspect that they have been disguised with a fake extension. If you want to gamble, try downloading one and rename it with a video extension. Probably .avi or .mpg. I know this happens a lot with mp3 files. Of course, I could be completely wrong.
VideoCD data files end with .dat
You're right of course, which means they should play okay. If I'm not wrong again.
