When you put in a CD the computer should launch whatever application it uses to play the CD. What is your lappies default programme for audio CDs is it windows media player or something like?
Seems to be working now, although very faint. Could be my PC, it was quite cheap so I probably bought a crock of the proverbial. Yes, the volume is set to 100%.
Sometimes having "exclusive mode" enabled "blocks" the audio CD so try disabling "exclusive mode":
Right-click the speaker icon in the Notification area of the Taskbar. Playback devices, click on "Speakers" under the Playback tab, Properties, Advanced then remove the checkmark in front of "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device" OK
If that has no effect you can re-enable "exclusive mode".
Open AutoPlay by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, and then clicking Control Panel. In the search box, type autoplay, and then click AutoPlay.
Do one of the following:
To turn AutoPlay on, select the Use AutoPlay for all media and devices check box.
To turn AutoPlay off, clear the Use AutoPlay for all media and devices check box.
Click Save.
At some point in the next 15 minutes I am going to slit my throat. I am trying to follow Crap's advice. i am assuming the the start button is the funny 4 paned window at the extreme left of the task bar. Clicking on that gives me no option for control panel so cannot proceed further. Gates, may you rot in hell! You and your Win 10!!!
Thanks all, but it is now too late in the evening for me. All I get is autoplayer can't play this because you don't have a sound device. Anyway, problem solved. If I wish to play a CD I shall do so via my CD audio player, and raspberries to Gates!!
