Daughter's Wedding Disc Won't Play
11 Answers
My daughter has just sent me a DVD copy of here wedding video, so that I can watch it TV as well as on-line.
It plays on my laptop fine, but when I put in my Bush DVD player it just loads and loads and then says "No Disc."
What should I do? Thanks.

I rushed that answer and somehow ignored that you'd specifically highlighted that the laptop could read the disc, which it would fail to do, with an unfinalised disc.
To fender's reply I'd add that Blu-Ray machines, with backwards compatability with DVD would be what you will find on the store shelves. A purely DVD machine will be end-of-stock, possibly cheap because they're having trouble shifting the last of them but possibly a false economy because, by the time you get around to replacing that, Blu-Ray machines will be old hat.

Re ubasses' post:
your laptop's connector socket arrangement may vary but my (Win 7 era) one has HDMI out and I feed iPlayer programs to the telly with it.
On your TV remote, press the AV or AV input select button to select the relevant HDMI input. With mine, I also need to change the telly aspect ratio to "Zoom" to make the computer display fill the screen.

I'm not at home, so I can't check it out, but I think that domestic DVD players need to be in a special format. If you have a "professional" DVD, put it in your laptop and "explore" the contents. Then do the same with the DVD your daughter sent you. I suspect the one your daughter sent is a string of video files without the information required by your household DVD player to decode them.
