Wifi In The Gambia

my friend lives in the gambia near Serakunda.he uses a Gcel dongle which he tells me is very expensive.does anyone know of a cheaper way he can access the internet either by a router or even a portable dish.we are both in our sixties and know very little about this technology so forgive me if the question sounds stupid.

As you are probably aware this is a mainly UK site so it unlikely that anyone would know about internet providers in The Gambia.

As your friend is already living there he is in the best position to find out. I can only suggest he talks to friends and neighbours and maybe there are forums based in The Gambia that can give good advice.

Dave...does your friend have a telephone line to his home ?

I have never been to the Gambia, but it would be a good start if he investigated the possibility of having broadband on his home phone, although it may not be quite the same in third world countries as it is here in Europe.
