I'm about to acquire a machine that lets one record from vinyl to CD. I've looked online and there are scads of recordable (ie, blank) CDs on offer. Are some better than others? In other words, what should I be getting? Any and all tips received gratefully.
I think the quality must change from one to another or they'd all be the same price. Take a websearch for HiFi or PC sites that do reviews and see which brand/standard come out top.
As others have mentioned there are different types created for different formats. Make sure you have the right type. Your machine user manual should tell you what you need.
Can I suggest that you buy some CD-RWs. If you make the initial recording on to a re-writeable disc you can then copy good tracks on to a CD-R. If you use a CD-R for the initial recording and things go wrong you've wasted a perfectly good disc. If you go via a CD-R it cuts down on the wastage.
