Difficulty With Ab On Chrome

Can anyone please explain why I've suddenly started having trouble with AB using Chrome, yet when I change to MSE, it's absolutely fine. Using Chrome, I just couldn't get it to work properly, it kept freezing up, all that sort of stuff ... yet it's perfect on MSE. Very odd .... I did initially take off my Chrome shortcuts for AB, and reload them, but it was still not working .... Thanks, chox.

There have been lots of reports of AB freezing lately. Indeed, there are often are. The problem always seems to be that a particular browser doesn't like something in the ads. (The browser varies each time the problem is reported).

So the obvious question has to be: "Are you using that-which-shall-not-be-named-here to get rid of all the ads?"

In answer to your question - probably not. Perhaps, all of a sudden, our virus checker doesn't like something on AB. It's been like this for a few weeks now, and is very frustrating. Oh well, at least I've realised that I can access it quite normally via MSE. And I'm glad that I'm probably not alone with this difficulty. Cheers, Chox.

You could try looking at your browsing history and clear cached data.

Or you could try Firefox as it seems to have less issues.

In the very early days of the internet a few companies tried to sell their web browsers. Some also took legal action against Microsoft to try to prevent them bundling Internet Explorer with Windows, as it greatly reduced the chances of any other company being able to sell their own browsers. (Microsoft actually lost such a battle in the European courts. To this day they're legally obliged to offer Windows, at the same price as they'd normally charge for it, without any browser included if a customer demands it).

However companies making web browsers eventually gave up on trying to sell them and either stopped producing them altogether or made them free (and sought other ways of making money instead). Also some people decided to create 'open source' browsers just for the general good of internet users. So now all browsers are free. (That's true for PCs. There might be some for Android devices, etc, which are charged for, but I'm unaware of any)
