Can anyone help me please. My Chrome Browser has updated itself and a few things have changed but what is worrying me is that a few websites now show a small circle with a ! in the middle instead of the https. in the address bar. Just looking now, this includes this site as well as Ebay. When I click it ( the circle) it says 'your connection to this site is not private'. Is this a new thing or have I got a virus? I've run a malware scan and no problems. Its worrying not having a secure connection. What can I do? Thanks.

When I click the url and paste it the ! reverts to http.

Thank you jackdaw I see what you mean. However http is not secure. What is going on I wonder? Can't find much info on Forums that's why I thought it may be a problem with my PC or modem.

I've got a small circle with an 'i' in it rather than a '!' is that a different problem?
1. Check the date and time on your computer's clock.

2. Go into the settings in your security software and disable 'https scanning'.

Baldric I've just checked and its a circle with an i not a ! . Good grief I need to go to specsavers! An ideas please? Obviously its something other people have noticed so not the virus or glitch I thought it was.
^^^ My post above was assuming that you were expecting to see the 'https' padlock on a site such as Amazon.

If you're simply visiting a regular ('http') site the behaviour is perfectly normal. I've got an information 'i' showing right now, as I'm typing on AB, using Firefox. Clicking on it also shows that this site is 'not secure' (i.e. it's not one that I should provide credit card information, etc to). It doesn't indicate that there's a problem (either with AB or with Firefox).

Buenchico thank you for your answer. I've never noticed this circle and lack of the http before, in fact, I know its just appeared in the last few days. Apparently Chrome has been updated in the last few days and my icons have changed too. At least I know this is 'normal' so thanks for all the answers.
