I have written a second letter before action to a carpet supplier who did a very shoddy job and need to print it off but the bloody machine won't f in do it.

It keeps coming up as jpeg and wanting to save it but won't let me save it or print it.

How the the hell do I stop it doing that?

Sorry for the rant but it is so frustrating.

What are you using to 'write' the letter on, pc, Mac, Android tablet, smartphone? If pc/laptop what O/S?

What program are you using to 'write' the M/S Office, Open Office, Libre or something else?
should read "What program are you using to 'write' the letter, M/S Office, Open Office, Libre or something else?"
Are you sure it is showing you a jpeg?
Is it not a preview of your letter?

Hi,

It is my laptop. When I press print a box comes up with save to computer as jpeg and won't print. I am going to the library this afternoon to print it there (hopefully) and will have to try to sort it out on the laptop later.
This may happen if the XPS Document Writer has somehow become the default printer.
Click:
Start->Control Panel->Devices and Printers
then right-click on your normal printer and set it as the default printer.
Do as Togo states first, but what software program are you using to create the letter? Does the 'save' box give an dropdown menu option to save in a different format ie .doc
Another thought cassa are you using w8 or w10? I gave you a run through for 7 or xp. If you are using w8 r w10, click on the windows logo on your screen bottom left or press the windows icon key on your keyboard. Then click the little cog on the pop up menu bottom left, this takes you into settings. Then click on devices and printers in the half page menu. This will give you a list of devices that are recognised by your pc. Click on the top of the list, printers and scanners. Is your printer now on the list which will show Microsoft print to pdf, Microsoft xps document writer, and your printer should be there. Below that list you will see a toggle slider switch under Let Windows manage my default printer...... Slide that switch to the on position.

THANK YOU

The printer had set itself to xps for some reason. If I hadn't of been so frustrated with it I might have spotted it (unlikely but you never know ;0)

So a big thank you. All I have to do is get some black ink to put in it. Doh..
