Disposing Of Old Laptops

I have removed the hard drives. Does the remaining kit with the rest of the gubbins have a value?

Also how should I disable the hard drives. Smash them with a sledgehammer?

If you've got the right screwdriver, open up the drive and remove the platters. You can emery paper them oor cut them to make them unreadable. As a bonus, the magnets are VERY powerful - if you get them off and they stick themselves together you will need a screwdriver or similar to separate them again.
Prize open the hard drives' casings with a screwdriver and squirt a load of superglue in. (8 tubes for a quid in Poundland). That's how I do it anyway!
