How Much Data Do You Use Each Month?
47 Answers
At the moment I have unlimited broadband data useage, so I have no idea of my monthy consumption. I am with BT. I don't think I am able to view anywhere my data use.
I am tempted to move provider because BT offer a poor service and are expensive. I would say I am a heavy user of the internet. I listen to streamed audio (podcast/iTunes) and some TV.
How much data am I likely to be using?

I have just had a look, and the app that used to let you check your usage has been removed from the unlimited accounts, it used to be there. A typical BT customer service ploy. It means that you cannot monitor your own usage and if needs be negotiate a cheaper deal with a different provider. Bloody cheek. Hopeless BT customer service again, just a ploy to lock you by giving you the "mushroom" treatment.( Keep you in the dark and feed you plenty of schitt)
I am not happy with that you know. Having had a think, and do bear with me, it means that I cannot check if someone else is using our account to access hotspots or Fon. Over the years when we have been away on holiday we have used a live in dog minder and friends or family to mind the dog. We provided our log on details for them to use the wifi when we were away and it means that they could( I know it is unlikely, but possible) use our account to access the web using Fon or hotspots and we would not know. Because I cannot check our usage against the totals.
Togo,
FON useage is not billed to you, ever. Everyone can access the FON part of your router if they have a BT account. Effectively when you buy broadband from BT, they split your router, and a portion of it is for public wifi hotspots.
As mention previously, I contacted BT and the information on my useage that they gave me was wrong. They said for the entire month of October, that I had used just 0.05Gb, this was despite streaming lots of television and audio.

I know. But read my 12:23 post ref. people who may, just may log in using my account details. I am not bothered about the hotspot of Fon facility. I have used it whilst on holiday myself. I would like to be able to check what BT thinks my personal usage is compared to what I know it is. Without the usage app. (that used to be there) I do not have a clue. I will though download an independent usage monitor so that I am on top of any unlikely future event. Like for instance BT deciding to change terms or another provider offering a deal that suits my KNOWN usage.
