Printing Machine

I have to write to the same people several times a year.
Is there a machine out there that I can put an address in and it will print the same address 20 times or so.

I'm also confused as to why you can't simply use your computer and printer (unless, I suppose, you've not got a printer).

BTW back in 1971 I was a very young sales representative for Rank Xerox in the UK and I actually sold the 914. The curing process was by way of a 'two bar electric fire' as the copy paper crossed over it. If (and when) the paper jammed it simply caught fire, oh so much fun to be had in the modern office of the early 1970s, joy,joy,joy all the way..........

at my grammar school, older kids who had been good were allowed to help the teachers do this.....wonderful fun till the machine picked up a clump of paper instead of one sheet at a time...and they made a lovely gershlup gershlup noise

You can get A4 size sheets with peel off labels, and with the correct software, run them through a printer which will address them. So yes it is possible Sue.
If I remember though, from my days in harness, not the easiest set up. I once did it for a 650 account database and missed the last letter of every post code in the settings. Still annoys me now.

I learned to use one of these at college. Composing and locking up type, dissing type after use, reading upside down and back to front, the lot. I actually printed my own wedding invitations.

That link may help Sue. It will give you an idea of what is possible but do not download any software until you have specified your system to us.

janzman I worked for Xerox Research UK back in 1971 and the fires were the reason we were trying to develop a 'Liquid Toner' copier. Liquid Toner, (we were NOT allowed to call it ink ) solved the fire problem but brought other problems. The main problem was that if the printing unions had got hold of the idea that a Xerox used ink then photocopying would be seen as 'printing' and only a member of a print union would be allowed to use one! At the time that was a real serious threat!
In the end the problem was overcome by the introduction of a heated mirror finish glazed roller that 'set' the toner without the red hot element.
Xerox Research UK was funded directly from the USA but based in Welwyn Garden City. We had a great time there , more like a bunch of like minded friends than a work place and developed the very first liquid crystal display and the pioneer of ink jet printing.

Both Gingejbee and I suspect that Suetheramble might not have a printer, so printing software (with or without labels) isn't going to help under those circumstances.

No not a wind up haven't got a clue how to do it on my computer. Happy to buy the sticky labels from shop, type in an address on a simple machine. I would then like to put sticky labels into machine and watch it knock out 20 printed labels. Without the hassle of computers.

Don't think there is such a think. It would need a keyboard and sofware which would make it uneconomical. Seeing as it's so easy to do on a computer. I'd go to your local Fastprint shop and ask them for a price.
