After being without broadband for two weeks because of a BT fault I got reconnected yesterday and everything worked well. I'm still able to connect with my laptop and mobile but not with the desktop, when trying to troubleshoot the problem I get a message - Problem found "Wi-Fi" doesn't have a valid IP configuration.

Could someone please tell me how to fix it?

Try resetting the TCP/IP stack. (It's fixed loads of problems for me). If you're using Windows 10, follow the instructions under 'Solution 1' here: http://windowsreport.com/wi-fi-valid-ip-configuration-windows-10/ For earlier versions of Windows, scroll down to 'Let me fix it myself', and then to the appropriate version of Windows, here:...

If that doesn't work, return to my first link for some further possible solutions.

Thanks for your post.

That's another fifty quid I've just deprived PC World of then ;-)

(Yes, that really is what they charge for simply resetting the TCP/IP stack on a customer's computer!)
