BT broadband. No signal and orange light lit. If phone lifted to make a call the blue light comes on and broadband will work. Hang up the phone and it stops working again and orange light comes on. Rang BT who say they never heard of such a fault. Took 30 minutes on the phone with them having me plugging and unplugging devices. Say all tests ok and if they send an engineer out will cost £130 if fault in house. I am in N Belfast area. Anyone come across this before please?

At this stage I am unable to add anything to Bertrum's comments. Try your Router in the main socket with everything else disconected and then report back to us.

Hans.
Sorry if you have tried this, but on the router/hub somewhere will be a switch/button that says "reset".If you have tried this already my apologies.
The purpose of your ADSL filter is to separate the traffic between your phone and your modem. If the activity of one device is affecting the operation of the other it strongly suggests that your ADSL filter has packed up. (It can definitely happen. Another AB member solved an internet connection a few weeks ago by simply replacing his filter).

If you're close to a branch of Maplin
http://www.maplin.co.uk/region/map/12
they'll sell you one for about a tenner
http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/adsl-microfiltersplitter-a61ak
but thy're far cheaper online. (You might even find them on sale in larger branches of Tesco: https://www.tesco.com/direct/tesco-adsl-filter/368-3453.prd )
