Help, Do I Need Malwarebytes??

I have a virus in the form of that it opens various other pages that inform I have a virus or it is a rubbish page. I have run my anti virus and nothing is found. It is still happening so do I need to run malwarebyte. I have adblock and it is not stopping these pages from opening.
I am using chrome and windows 7.

Try either Malwarebytes

or AdwCleaner

(which is now owned by the same company anyway).

With Malwarebytes you might have to take a free trial of the Premium version (unless there's still an option to decline the offer during the installation process) but, even if you do, it reverts to the free version after 14 days anyway. AdwCleaner is simply a freebie from the start.

Also certain words are coming up with a green little trademark beside them. When I hover over this green mark, it says 'click to continue by Advertise' Does this have something to do with it???

Hi Sharon, this sounds like a malicious plugin for you browser.

If you're using Chrome - menu (three dots) > More tools > extensions. Anything look odd here?

The site SlackAlice has linked to is entirely reputable (I've linked to it on dozens of occasions myself).

However it's well-known for it's 'overkill' approach to solving problems. A simply scan with Malewarebytes or AdwCleaner will probably solve the problem without trying all of the other stuff that's recommended there.

Ab Editor, there is nothing untoward in extensions and I have not installed any plugins. I have run adw and will check it. Thanks again everyone.
