I'm not very good with computers either, so my reply is more one of sympathy than anything else.

I had the same message/problem after trying to uninstall an old version of Yahoo help.  I couldn't even accesss my Windows XP.  Eventually I had to pay about 30 for telephone support to delete and reinstall a lot of software.  As well as solving the problem, the process also got rid of some persistent Spyware such as Aurora and Abetterinternet that had been causing unblockable pop-ups.

Hope this helps you feel not so isolated.

Good luck

As far as I recall when you put the Installation CD in the drive one of the menu options was "Uninstall System Works"
