Html Problem

I have a two-column table with borders and with the date in the LH col. If the RH col has only one line of text, the two are level. However if the RH has a lot of text the LH date is always in the vertical centre. Somewhere in the code I was given there must be an instruction that could put the date at the top of its box.

Are you coding by hand, or are you using a program eg. Dreamweaver, as a program will let you make changes a lot quicker than by hand.
