4 Answers
Samsung and laptop are on wifi at home. I used Online Help. (Chat) on laptop to speak to energy supplier for eighteen and half minutes, they kept me waiting a lot, my mobile data went up 11 mb. Is this connected? Thanks all, you are always so helpful!

Samsung makes phones but also make tablets, laptops (and TVs and washing machines) and so on so it does help if you make it clear WHAT you are using (we cant SEE your hardware)
Assuming it is a phone then if the phone and laptop are on wi fi then that wont use any mobile data.
Certainly using chat on your laptop should not use any mobile data on your phone.
When at home always make sure you have "mobile data" turned off on your phone.
However 11mb is such a trivial amount of data I would not worry about it. In data terms a "MB" (megabyte) is a small amount of data (unless you get into the hundreds of megabytes of course).
It is when you get to "GB" (Gigabytes) of data that you need to worry.

Sorry I wasnt very clear. I have had a post recently about the amount of MB my Samsung Galaxy phone was using after I had done an update. Before the update my phone used approx 100mb a week.. After the update it used almost 500mb a week and I had to pay for more GB. So something was wrong. I have wifi at home for laptop, ipad and phone. Eventually the phone shop said it was to do with my email updating overnight. He did something to the phone, synching? And my phone used much less data. He said to switch off mobile data on the phone when I was sending emails from my ipad or laptop. I didnt switch off mobile data when I was "chatting" online with energy supplier for eighteen minutes and suddenly i had used 11 MB instead of around 1 a day! Hope this is clearer. Sorry I am not technical at all.
