One way to open Word files in Publisher is through the traditional route. Launch Publisher and click the blank document button on the main screen. Click the “File” tab, click “Open” and browse to the Word file to open. It may help to click the default “All Publisher Files” drop-down and choose from the Word documents to narrow down your choices. Double-click the Word document. After a few moments of Publisher’s conversion progress bar, the Word document opens. You’ll need to plan for at least a few minutes of eyeballing, as much of your formatting, such as fonts, tables and images may have shifted or been lost in the conversion process
